Privacy Policy

OrangePeel exists because the luxury-buying community values discretion. Privacy is not a legal checkbox for us — it is the product. This policy says exactly what we collect and why, in plain language.
What we collect
- Score checks (anonymous): city, target bag, a banded spend range (rounded to $2,500 bands — never your exact figure), purchase categories, months and visit counts, and the resulting score. No name, no email, no account, no free text is attached to a score check.
- Waitlist (if you join): your email address and the score/city/bag from the check you joined from.
- Basic technical logs: standard web-server logs (IP, user-agent) retained briefly for security and abuse prevention.
- Photos (only if you order a check or a valuation): the guided photographs of your bag, plus the item details you type in. Only two products ever store a photo — the authenticity check and the valuation. Our Bag Advisor never stores an image you show it; it is passed to the model that answers and kept nowhere.
Your photos, and exactly how long we keep them
Photographs are the most sensitive thing this site handles, so the rule is written down and a scheduled job enforces it — not a promise somebody remembers to keep.
- Where they live: a private storage bucket that is never public. They are read back only through an authenticated route — by you, or by the independent specialist reviewing your item.
- 180 days after your order closes, they are deleted. That covers a completed, failed, or refunded order alike. We keep them that long rather than a shorter window for one honest reason: a card chargeback can arrive up to about 120 days after payment, and your photos are our evidence that the work was actually done.
- 30 days if you start an order, upload photos and never submit it. No check ran, so there is nothing to defend and no reason to hold them.
- While a specialist is still reviewing, nothing is deleted, whatever the calendar says.
- What we keep forever instead: the order record itself — what you ordered, the verdict, the certificate, the dates. That is your receipt and our audit trail. It contains no photograph.
- Never: made public, sold, shared with advertisers, or used to train a model.
The reference library (opt-in, and off by default)
At intake there is a single checkbox, unticked unless you tick it. Ticking it lets us keep your photos past the deletion date as a reference example of that bag specification — model, size, leather, colour, hardware — in our own private reference library. You never have to tick it: the box is not part of what you must complete to pay, and leaving it alone changes nothing about your order.
- It is separated from you, not just hidden. When the deletion date arrives, a kept photo is copied to a new randomly-named file recorded against the bag specification alone. The library record has no field for your name, your email, your account or your order number — so the library cannot be searched by person, by us or by anyone else.
- Your own copy of the photo still goes. The file that sat under your order is deleted on schedule exactly as if you had never ticked the box.
- You can change your mind, before or after. Un-tick the box while your order is still a draft and the consent record is erased. After that, email us and we delete the kept file and its record — we keep one internal pointer, readable only by us, for exactly this purpose, and it is destroyed along with the photo.
- Anything less than a clear yes counts as no. A missing, blank or unreadable consent record means the photo is deleted.
What we never collect
- No names of Hermès sales associates — reports are aggregated at boutique level only.
- No purchase receipts, card numbers, or account credentials of any kind.
- No data from your device beyond what you type into the form.
How we use it
- Anonymous score checks feed aggregate statistics (e.g. “median reported ratio in Paris”) that make the score more accurate for everyone.
- Your email is used to contact you about OrangePeel — launch and product updates. No selling, no renting, no third-party marketing. Ever.
Sharing
We do not sell or share personal data. Aggregated, anonymized statistics (never individual rows) may appear in the product and our published research. Infrastructure providers (hosting, database) process data on our behalf under their own security terms.
Your rights
Email privacy@orangepeel.to to access or delete your waitlist data at any time. Anonymous score checks cannot be linked back to you — that is by design — so they cannot be individually retrieved or deleted.
Not affiliated with Hermès
OrangePeel is an independent, community-powered tool. We have no relationship with Hermès International and no access to any Hermès customer data. Everything here is community-reported or publicly available.
